Madagascar is one of the top sources of orange sapphires, a rare and precious gemstone. These sapphires, which range from pale pastel to vibrant blood orange, are formed in metamorphic or igneous rocks and are likely 560-650 million years old. Their color comes from chromium and iron impurities or exposure to radiation, and they are often heat-treated to enhance their color. Orange sapphires are associated with the 5th, 45th, and 65th wedding anniversaries and are the birthstone for September.

Use a soft cloth to gently wipe clean the item you wish to clean. Remove any remaining impurities with mild diluted soap. Rinse with warm water and dry thoroughly before storing away. Do not use abrasive cleaners, steamers or ultrasonic machines. Do not submerge or clean any of our gemstones with liquid cleaners.
