Spinel, a magnesium-aluminum oxide, was often mistaken for ruby or sapphire until its unique properties were identified in 1783. Originating from mines in Asia and the Middle East, it is now found worldwide, with gem-quality deposits in Myanmar's Himalayan orogenic belt. Spinel's color varies based on trace elements present; chromium and vanadium cause red hues, while iron causes magenta and purple. Notably, Myanmar Elderberry Spinels are relatively clean and often exhibit a medium tone and saturation with a purple hue. Spinel is associated with the 22nd wedding anniversary.

Use a soft cloth to gently wipe clean the item you wish to clean. Remove any remaining impurities with mild diluted soap. Rinse with warm water and dry thoroughly before storing away. Do not use abrasive cleaners, steamers or ultrasonic machines. Do not submerge or clean any of our gemstones with liquid cleaners.
